Travelambo Front Pocket Wallet Review – The Most Affordable Minimalist Wallet

In this review, we will go through all features, details, upsides, and downsides of the Travelambo Front Pocket minimalist wallet.

Should you buy the Travelambo Front Pocket wallet?

The Travelambo Front Pocket is a leather wallet with a paper-thin design. With more than 30 available colors, it can suit almost any clothing style, while staying slim and functional.

I would recommend this wallet to anyone looking for a compact wallet that can hold their most important cards and cash bills but doesn’t want to overspend a lot of money.

The wallet is quite affordable, and I believe it is one of the best minimalist wallets for men in the budget category.

The wallet is also a perfect gift for both men and women, as it comes in a simple design and many optional colors to choose from. It has quick and easy access to all of its pockets and will be a great item to have on a long trip.

Buying

The best, and currently the only place where you can buy the Travelambo Front Pocket wallet is from Amazon.

They almost always have the wallet in stock and offer it in two distinct designs. You will also have an abundance of color options to choose from when buying the wallet from there.

Price and value for money

The Travelambo Front Pocket will typically cost from $8 to around $11, depending on which design you choose.

The cheaper option comes with a rugged leather finish, while the more expensive one has a smooth surface instead. This stylish detail is the only difference between the two, as they both have the same size, capacity, and features.

Shipping details

Amazon doesn’t offer free shipping on orders below $25, so you will have to pay the Amazon shipping rates in order to get this wallet.

These shipping fees start from around $5 for the standard delivery in a week or two, up to more than $10 if you want it delivered the next day.

Customer support

Any questions you might have about this product can be addressed on Amazon’s contact page.

There you can find the FAQ section or contact their customer support team directly regarding your concerns.

Warranty and returns

Amazon offers a standard 1-year warranty on wallets and accessories, which covers factory defects and damages to the product done upon delivery or shipment.

If you aren’t altogether satisfied with the wallet and want to return it back, Amazon also offers a 30-day free return policy during which you can send the product back and get a full refund. Check out Amazon’s policy webpage for more details.

The Travelambo Brand

Travelambo is a brand specializing in Men’s and Women’s travel accessories. They manufacture all kinds of wallets, purses, passport holders, luggage tags, and various other accessories.

The brand always combines the finest leather with a stylish minimalist approach to deliver great, yet affordable items found in everyone’s pockets.

Basics

The Travelambo Front Pocket is a slim, one-fold, leather wallet with one big side pocket, four smaller ones placed in the front, and two more pockets on the back.

How to use the Travelambo Front Pocket wallet?

The wallet is very simple to use, although it may seem complicated with so many slots all around it. It doesn’t have any groundbreaking features or complicated closing mechanisms. It’s a thin cardholder with enough pockets to store up to 6 cards and cash bills.

On the left-hand side of the wallet, you’ll notice the big, wide, vertical pocket. Here you will store your less frequently used cards or cash bills. This slot can hold up to 2 or 3 cards inside, or 5 banknotes with ease.

On the front, there are four smaller card slots, one vertical and three horizontally placed. Each of them stores exactly one card and is designed to keep your most-used card with easy access to them.

And finally, on the back, there are two additional pockets: a wide one, similar to the side slots, and a smaller one equipped with a see-through window. Here you can keep your ID card or any other identification badge you use frequently.

Overall, the Travelambo Front Pocket has seven pockets in total. 6 of them on the front and back that can hold one card each, and a bigger one on the side designed for cash bills and other contents.

Aesthetics

Depending on which of the two design options you choose, the wallet comes with either smooth or rugged leather aesthetics.

Design and colors

Each design has the same couple of aesthetic approaches: a few pieces of leather stitched together with a fine thread to form the pockets, and the Travelambo logo at the bottom of the wallet’s front side.

The wallet is crafted in a slim, minimalist fashion, with little depth and very strict storage in each pocket.

Additionally, it comes in more than 30 different colors, ranging from black, red, brown, green, up to yellow, blue, green, and orange.

Choosing the right color might be the most difficult thing about this wallet, as it may feel like there are thousands of them, and honestly, they all look pretty great in my opinion.

Materials

The Travelambo Front Pocket uses only a fine 100% genuine leather and leather lining in its design.

Clothing style fit

One of the big upsides of this wallet is its unisex fit – equally suited for both men’s and women’s clothing styles.

On top of that, it comes in so many different colors that it’s impossible to not find one that suits you best, no matter what type of clothes you wear.

You’ve got darker, smooth colors for formal outfits, bright colors for summer clothes, dresses, and shorts, even some great light and navy blue colors that will go great with some jeans and a t-shirt. It’s quite a diverse wallet anyone can fit in their wardrobe.

Features

The Travelambo Front Pocket wallet has a couple of features you might find useful.

RFID Protection

The wallet is equipped with strong RFID blocking to prevent any scanning and wireless theft of your cards. The Travelambo brand has assured that the wallet has been tested and approved before release and that it safely blocks RFID rays from each pocket.

You should, however, be noted that this protection only applies to the standard chips most credit cards and driver’s licenses have. Hotel cards or identification badges might not be protected that well.

Quick access card slots

The main features of this wallet are its quick access card slots placed on the front and back sides.

There are four such pockets on the front and two more on the back, storing one card each. All of the pockets are RFID protected, so you can safely keep your credit cards here and have easy access to them.

ID window

One of the back pockets has a see-through window on the top. This slot is designed to act as an ID pocket, where you can keep your ID card, any other identification badge, or an entrance card that you have to show to someone almost every day.

It’s a very useful feature for people who often enter buildings with such badges, as they don’t have to take the card out and can simply show it from the wallet instead.

How many cards can the Travelambo Front Pocket wallet hold?

The Travelambo Front Pocket wallet can fit up to 8 cards in total, or up to 6 if you want to use the pocket in the middle for cash bills instead.

How many cash bills can the Travelambo Front Pocket wallet hold?

The pocket in the middle can hold up to 5 cash bills, folded at least twice.

The bills will be kept safely, without any danger of them falling out. Unfortunately, it only holds smaller banknotes, from currencies such as the US Dollar, and won’t be able to hold wider bills like the Euro or Yen.

Water resistance

The Travelambo Front Pocket is not a water-protected wallet. All the contents inside will most probably get damaged if you spill a drink on it, or splash it with water.

The leather will get damaged as well, so you should instantly empty the wallet and dry it out with a cloth or with a hairdryer.

Afterward, you can refresh the material with a leather oil, cleaner, and conditioner. It’s important to let it dry out first, as you don’t want to clean your leather while it might still be wet.

Size and dimensions

The Travelambo Front Pocket is one of the thinnest minimalist wallets ever produced, with only a slightly expendable size due to the elastic nature of the leather.

Its dimensions are:

  • width: 3.3 in / 8.4 cm
  • height: 4.1 in / 10.4
  • depth: 0.12 in / 0.3 cm

The depth of the wallet can go up to 0.5 in / 1.3 cm when all of its pockets are full.

Customer satisfaction

Almost all of the customers are largely satisfied with this wallet and its value for the low price. Out of more than 30 000 customer reviews, 78% have rated it with 5 stars.

Known issues and problems

The biggest issue most users have pointed out with this wallet is the difficulty to store and take the cards out. Most of the pockets don’t have a notch, a feature usually found on such pockets, which helps in taking the card out. Instead, you are forced to spend a few seconds trying to squeeze it off the pocket.

The wallet is also a bit too wide for most front pockets. It’s not a major issue, but compared to other minimalist wallets which are the size of a credit card, the Travelambo Front Pocket wallet is a bit wider. You should still be able to seamlessly keep it in your back pocket, but not so much in the front.

And finally, the quality of the leather is not the best. It will easily wear off or get damaged if you spill some water on it, or keep it in the same pocket with your keys or other items that can scratch it.

However, it’s worth noting that this is one of the cheapest minimalist wallets on the market currently, so it’s expected for you to make some sacrifices if you want to keep your budget low.

How does the Travelambo Front Pocket compare to other minimalist wallets?

Let’s compare this wallet to some of its most similar competitors and see how it fares against them.

Travelambo Front Pocket vs Coach Card Case

The Coach Card Case is one of the best high-end alternatives to the Travelambo Front Pocket wallet. It costs around $100 and is one of the most deluxe cardholders on the market.

Both wallets have a similar design, and roughly the same capacity, with the exception of the cash bills pocket which the Coach Card Case lacks.

The biggest difference lies in the materials used to manufacture the wallets. Coach always uses premium materials and made the Card Case out of polished pebble leather, stitched with fine thread. The Travelambo Front Pocket, on the other hand, has a much more cheaply made leather finish and is way more prone to damage upon exposure.

Travelambo Front Pocket vs Buffway Slim

blue buffway slim wallet

The Buffway Slim is a minimalist wallet that looks very similar to the Travelambo Front Pocket. It’s priced at around $20 and has the same quick access pockets on the front side

When you view both wallets from the front, you will barely find any difference.

The only distinction between the two is the capacity. The Buffway slim has two additional pockets on its backside and can fit up to 12 cards in total. If you are interested in this wallet and want to know more, you can read my complete Buffway Slim wallet review.

Who should not buy the Travelambo Front Pocket Wallet?

First of all, I wouldn’t recommend this wallet to people who carry more than 6 or 7 cards with them. The wallet cannot fit anything more than this amount, no matter how much you stretch it. Even worse, the leather can tear up if you overstuff it too much. I recommend going for some bigger or more flexible model instead if you need to carry more cards, and checking out my guide on the best wallets for many cards for the best picks.

It’s also not a great option for people who spend most of their day sitting with their wallet in the back pocket, as the leather will wear off easily after only a few months. Drivers are one example of such type of people who won’t find much use of this wallet.

I also wouldn’t recommend the Travelambo Front Pocket to people who are afraid of showing off their cards and need better RFID protection. The pockets, especially the front three, are too narrow and a small part of your credit card will be shown off out of the pocket.

And finally, I don’t think this is the best choice if you can extend your budget a little bit and go for some slightly more expensive wallets that will guarantee a higher quality too. If money isn’t your biggest concern, and you can spend some $20-$30 more, there are some much better options in that price range you will surely like more. See my guides on the best wallets under $50 for some great picks.

Who should buy the Travelambo Front Pocket Wallet?

The Travelambo Front Pocket is one of the cheapest minimalist wallets on the market and is a great option for people who desperately need a new wallet but are on a tight budget. Most of the latest minimalist wallets currently are going for prices of $40 upwards. It’s rare to find a wallet with such a low price that has some great features too.

This wallet is also great for people who still like (or have) to use cash bills when shopping as it has a separate pocket for banknotes on the side.

I would also recommend this wallet to people always on the move, especially those who often travel abroad. Even the name of the wallet itself suggests that it’s great for traveling, with lots of separated pockets that help you stay organized.

The Travelambo Front Pocket is truly a fit-for-all wallet that can suit any lifestyle. Whether you want more color options when choosing a new wallet, or simply like leather items and you know how to pull them off, you can’t go wrong with this model.

So, in essence, if you are after a slim, compact wallet and want to stay as mindful about your budget as possible, then this wallet should be your main choice.
