In this thorough review of the Tavelamvo Money Clip wallet, we will see how this affordable wallet with some interesting features became the standard traveling companion for those who need something spacious, yet still compact at the same time.
Travelambo Money Clip Review
The Travelambo Money Clip is a slim, one-fold, minimalist wallet made out of genuine fine-grain leather. It stores up to 7 cards and 15 cash bills in the pockets which are placed all over its frame. The wallet has a total of 5 card slots and features a money clip, ID window, and RFID protection for the cards stored inside. With its sleek design and so many useful features, this is one of the best all-around minimalist wallets sold at a great price.
Should you buy the Travelambo Money Clip wallet?

If you are looking for a budget-friendly wallet with enough space for all your credit and a dozen of cash bills, it’s hard to find something as satisfactory as the Travelambo Money Clip.
This is one of the most affordable wallets out there, probably one of the best minimalist wallets in the budget category, and arguably the cheapest one that has a money clip used for cash.
With five pockets in total, a steel clip, and a smooth leather surface, the Travelambo Money Clip wallet is as good as it gets in its price range.
Buying
At the moment, the Travelambo Money Clip wallet is only available on Amazon.
On rare occasions, you may be able to find it on some local websites as well. However, I would still recommend Amazon as the best option when it comes to buying this wallet because you’ll almost always find about a dozen of different colors for it in their stock.
Price and value for money
The Travelambo Money Clip costs about $16 on Amazon.
It’s a very affordable wallet, and probably even the cheapest one that features a money clip in its design. With such a low price, it’s a wallet that not only anyone can afford, but also provides a couple of features that are rarely seen in this price range.
Shipping details
Shipping fees on Amazon for products of this type are usually around $8 for the standard option, and upwards of $10 for the immediate, 2-days delivery.
The precise shipping cost will largely vary based on the location where the order is placed, but would most probably range between $5 and $15.
Returns and refunds
If the Travelambo Money Clip hasn’t met your expectations after you’ve already bought it, you have up to 30 days to return it and get a full refund.
The return period starts at the moment you receive your shipment. After sending the wallet back, you will have to wait about 5-8 business days for the transaction to be processed, after which you will get the full refund.
Basics

The Travelambo Money Clip is a one-fold slim wallet with multiple pockets stacked all around it. Besides these pockets, the wallet features a clamping clip which, as the name itself suggests, is used to store cash bills.
How to use the Travelambo Money Clip wallet?
Since the wallet doesn’t fold, nor close, it’s simply used as an open cardholder that you fill and empty on the go, without the use of any kind of mechanism.
The first thing you’ll notice is the money clip, attached to the front side of the wallet. The clip is hung onto a slot designed to hold it without the help of any screws, so you can remove it at any time.
On the sides of the wallet, you will find five card slots in total. Three are at the front, intended for your most used cards, one slot with a see-through window is at the back, while on the side you will find a flat pocket that is much wider than all the rest.
The flat pocket is best utilized for storing cash bills, but you can use it to keep some remaining cards or other slim paper contents as well.
Aesthetics
Simplicity is key with most of Travelambo’s designs, as is the case with their Money Clip wallet.
Design and colors

The Travelambo Money Clip has a slim, almost completely flat design, with many pockets stacked all over it.
It features a clean surface, stitched edges, with all of the pockets stitched to it as well. The only part that’s standing out of the design is the money clip, which has the Travelambo logo engraved throughout its length.
The wallet is sold in 12 diverse colors, providing you a choice between:
- smooth black
- weaved black
- blue
- brown
- coffee
- light grey
- dark grey
- navy blue
- orange
- pink
- red
- yellow
Materials
The Travelambo Money Clip is made out of genuine fine-grain leather. This type of leather is slightly less durable than the more typical full-grain leather but much more sustainable and environmentally friendly, playing a big part in the wallet’s low price too.
Aside from leather, the wallet has a bit of steel used for the money clip, as well as plastic used for the transparent window found on the back pocket.
Clothing style fit
Thanks to the large and diverse color palette that this wallet is offered in, the Travelambo Money Clip will seamlessly fit any clothing style.
The wallet’s design is especially directed towards more casual outfits and colorful clothes, making it a perfect accessory for those who like to experiment and show off their deep wardrobe.
Features

Most of the budget-priced leather wallets have pretty monotone designs without any notable features. Tactical additions and smart innovations are usually set aside in order to provide a simple and affordable option for the buyers.
Be that as it may, the Travelambo Money Clip falls into a completely opposite category – a cheap wallet filled with tons of useful features that will catch the eyes of many.
RFID blocking
Most of the buyers looking for a new wallet are primarily worried about the security it can provide to their cards. Wireless theft is an especially serious concern, with unwanted data theft from our credit cards becoming a regular occurrence in recent years.
Thankfully, Travelambo is an RFID-blocking wallet that has built a safe wallet that will block all unwanted RFID communications with your cards.
The wallet is tested to block radio waves traveling on 13.56 MHz (frequency used for credit cards) from all card slots except for the one on the back.
Money clip
The main feature of this wallet is the slim metal money clip, mounted on the front side.
It’s made out of steel and covered in leather, and is the same color as the one you chose for the wallet. If you’ve opted for the weaved black design, however, you will then get a carbon fiber clip instead of a metal one, that won’t feature a leather cover but will instead have a “naked” appearance.
The clip is attached into a separate hole, without the help of screws, and can be removed at any time if you don’t need it for the moment and only want to use the wallet as a slim cardholder.
ID window
On the backside of the wallet, you’ll find a single one-card slot that covers the whole side. This slot has a see-through plastic window attached to it, making for a convenient ID pocket where you can keep your ID card or any other identification badge and display it without removing it.
The pocket also has a small hole in the middle, helping you to easily remove the card if you ever need to.
How many cards can the Travelambo Money Clip wallet hold?
Officially, the Travelambo Money Clip wallet can hold up to 7 cards inside its slots.
Given how one of the slots is much larger than the rest, the total number of cards you can fit inside the wallet is probably a bit larger, going up to 9 cards with 5 of them stored inside the wide flat pocket.
How many cash bills can the Travelambo Money Clip wallet hold?

By using all of the pockets provided on the wallet, you can probably fit up to 30 cash bills in the Travelambo Money Clip wallet.
If you plan on using the money clip alone as the holder for your banknotes, you can easily store up to 15 bills before widening the clip too much.
Is the Travelambo Money Clip wallet water resistant?
While this wallet has lots of features and pockets, it’s still made from standard leather without any water resistance.
I would advise any future owners to be extra careful around big bodies of water, as the wallet and its contents will be severely damaged if it falls into it. Similarly, if you spontaneously spill any water on the wallet, you should immediately wipe it all off and let the item dry off before using it again.
Size and dimensions
The Travelambo Money Clip is not only one of the slimmest but is among the lightest wallets ever made as well. It weighs only around 1.13 oz / 32 gr, feeling as light as a tree leaf when you hold it empty in your hand.
The wallet’s precise dimensions are:
- width: 4 in / 10.1 cm
- height: 4.4 in / 11.1 cm
- depth: 0.63 in / 1.6 cm
Customer satisfaction
The Travelambo Money Clip has attracted thousands of buyers throughout the world, most of which are very satisfied with the wallet they’ve got. It has averaged a 4.5-star rating out of 4,600 reviews on Amazon, placing it among the top wallets not only in its price range, but overall as well, which is quite an achievement.
Known issues and problems
The average price for a minimalist wallet on today’s market is around $40-$50. Any item priced below this will have some notable sacrifices, either in the quality or its features. The Travelambo Money Clip is no exception to this rule, and the wallet has a couple of issues you should be aware of if you’re considering it.
The first thing you’ll notice is the low-quality leather used to manufacture the product, as well as the improper stitching that considerably reduces the wallet’s durability. This type of fine-grain leather is often considered way less durable than full-grain leather and can wear off much faster, sometimes just after a couple of months of usage.
A number of users have reported receiving a wallet with a slightly different clip than the one advertised on the website. The money clip they’ve received has been made out of plastic and has been non-removable, as it has been glued onto the surface of the wallet.
And when it comes to the functionality of the wallet, you will notice how hardly accessible the front card slots are due to the money clip that’s placed right on top of them. Filling the wallet with 6+ cards will make accessing about half of them way harder than it should be, which is a regular problem in these types of wallets.
How does the Travelambo Money Clip compare to other minimalist wallets?
There are tons of one-fold leather wallets with a similar look and feel as the Travelambo Money Clip. Let’s take a look at two of the most popular alternatives and how each of them compares to this wallet.
Travelambo Money Clip vs Travelambo Front Pocket

At first look, these two might look like the exact same model, but there are a couple of differences between them that you should know of.
The Travelambo Front Pocket is designed in a rather similar fashion as the Money Clip wallet. It has three front quick-access pockets, one flat side pocket, and an ID window on the backside.
However, it lacks one important feature – the money clip, which is the signature part of the Travelambo Money Clip wallet. Thanks to this exclusion, the Travelambo Front Pocket costs much less than the other Travelambo wallets and is priced from $8 to around $11.

Travelambo Money Clip vs Coach Card Case

Coach is a high-end fashion brand that excels in making premium styled accessories. The Coach Card Case is one of the best-looking items when it comes to minimalist wallets, often regarded as the deluxe alternative to all the other leather cardholders.
The wallet is made out of premium polished pebble leather and features six small card slots attached on both sides. It has elegant aesthetics, with a sleek design and multiple color options.
While the Coach Card Case lacks a money clip or any other kind of pocket for cash bills, it still has immense appeal thanks to its looks, which is why it is priced at around $100.
Check out my review of the Coach Card Case wallet where I go into detail about its features and aesthetics so you can have a better idea of what exactly this wallet offers.
Who should not buy the Travelambo Money Clip Wallet?
The low-quality leather is probably the biggest setback when it comes to this wallet. If you are looking for something high-end, and aren’t hesitant to pay an extra amount to get a better product, I would advise you to keep looking for something else. See my guides on the best wallets under $50 and the best wallets under $100 for some better-quality options.
The money clip on the Travelambo wallet is great for keeping cash but is made out of thin steel that bends very easily. If you are the type of person who sits most of the time with their wallet in the back pocket, there’s a high chance you will bend or even break the clip after only a couple of days.
I also wouldn’t recommend the Travelambo Money Clip to someone who is looking for a much stronger and more durable wallet. It’s a stylish piece of accessory, no doubt there, but it won’t endure for too long if you plan on hiking or running with it.
The card capacity of this wallet isn’t too big. If you need to carry more than 7-8 cards, check out my guide on the best wallets for many cards.
At the end of the day, I don’t believe this is the best type of wallet for people who don’t like using cash clips. If you’ve never had a feature like this one so far, it will take time to get used to it and you might not even like it in the end. For some people, it’s best to stick to traditional wallets instead.
Who should buy the Travelambo Money Clip Wallet?
The Travelambo Money Clip is great for people who are in search of an affordable leather wallet that has enough capacity for their cards and cash bills. The combination of high capacity and low price is rare these days, and there aren’t a lot of alternatives out there that cover both of these aspects.
This wallet, as even the name itself suggests, is simply made for travelers who need a small, compact wallet that can store everything they need without taking too much space. Whether you often travel by plane or by bus, you know how much storage efficiency matters. The Travelambo Money Clip can be easily fit into any pocket, backpack, or travel suitcase without even being felt that it’s there.
I would also recommend this wallet to people who love to have quick and easy access to their cards. I know how tiring it can be to spend half a minute opening your wallet and looking for your cards while there are other people waiting in line behind you. With this wallet, however, you can forget about those days and finally stop getting stressed by the queues of people sighing behind you.
Additionally, this wallet will be loved by people who carry loads of cash bills with them all the time. Shopping with bills is slowly becoming a thing of the past, but if you are the person who still keeps around 10 bills in their wallet, you will definitely appreciate the storage capacity Travelambo’s Money Clip provides.
