Dango T01 Tactical Bifold Spec Ops Review – An Excellent Tactical, Multifunctional, Minimalist Wallet

This is a detailed review of the Dango T01 Tactical Bifold Spec Ops wallet, one of the best minimalist wallets with the most tactical features available today.

Should you buy the Dango T01 Tactical Bifold Spec Ops wallet?

If you are looking for a wallet that has a sophisticated design, is very easy to use, and also has a ton of tactical features, you should definitely check out the Dango S01 Tactical Bifold Spec Ops.

When the Dango brand manufactures wallets, they put great attention to detail in their products, and this wallet is no exception.

Everybody that loves tactical features will surely like the MT02 multitool that has 14 different functions built right in it and is a part of this wallet.

This product is a bit more expensive than most minimalist wallets but offers a lot of functionalities for that price.

I would sincerely recommend this minimalist wallet to anyone who is looking for a good-quality, everyday wallet, that can be tailored to their style.

You can buy the Dango T01 Tactical Bifold Spec Ops wallet both on Amazon and on the official Dango website.

I recommend buying it on the website since you can pay in four interest-free installments through Afterpay. You’ll also be able to buy all of the exciting accessories and have them delivered together with the wallet.

Price and value for money

This wallet typically costs around $109, which is a bit more expensive than most minimalist wallets out there.

The wallet is well-made, pleasant to hold, and long-lasting. It can hold a lot of cards and some cash bills. It comes with the MT02 multitool, which has over 14 tactical functions built-in.

The best thing is that you can mix and match the colors of separate parts of the wallet to create one in your unique style.

With everything this wallet offers, it can easily be considered great value for money.

The Dango D01 Tactical Bifold Spec Ops wallet, like other minimalist wallets, is very simple to use. It does, however, have certain unique features that add to its usefulness and charm.

How to use the Dango T01 Tactical Bifold Spec Ops wallet?

You should start by placing all of your cards in the available card slots. For this purpose, the wallet has two exterior and two interior card slots. Keep in mind that the metal interior card slot is the same space where you keep your Dango multitool, so if you carry the tool, it might limit your available card space.

The next step is to place your MT02 multitool in the metal interior slot.

Finally, if you want to carry some cash bills, you can put them in the wallet band.

Just like all other Dango wallets, this product arrives in a nice metal box.

When you open the metal box, the first thing you see is the wallet itself and a standard Dango paracord lanyard.

Below them, there are 3 cards. The first one has the name of the wallet on the front and an instruction manual on the back. The second is a user guide for the MT02 multitool. The last one has all the contact information for the Dango brand.

Aesthetic and design

The wallet is quite sophisticated, and still, as the name suggests, a tactical wallet.

Like most Dango products, it has an amazing look, while still maintaining its practicality.

Design-wise, this wallet is very simple.

On the front, there is a pocket slot, that you can use to place 2 or more cards in. This side of the wallet is wrapped by the wallet band, so you can keep some cash bills both on the outside and on the inside of the wallet.

When you open the wallet, you will see a metal card slot on the left side, right behind the wallet band. This is where the multitool is placed, but you can also use this slot for a couple of cards.

The right interior side of the wallet also has a slot that you can use for cards, and so does the back of the wallet.

The Dango T01 Tactical Bifold Spec Ops wallet is available in a couple of different colors, such as:

  • DTEX/desert sand
  • DTEX/black out
  • DTEX/OD green

You can also choose the color of your band and tether.

Wallet bands are available in:

  • safety orange
  • red
  • grey
  • black
  • green
  • blue
  • brown

The tether comes in:

  • jet black
  • green
  • sand
  • brown

All these colors make it easy for you to adjust your wallet to your liking. Even if the main body of the wallet only has three color options, you can always customize it by choosing a different color for your band and tether.

This wallet is mainly made out of DTEX material, which is textured and feels soft. The DTEX is very flexible and has water resistance. It’s also tougher than leather.

The inside metal is made out of 6061 aerospace-grade CNC’d aluminum. This material is very resilient, has high quality, and looks incredible.

The band that goes around the whole interior of the wallet is made from silicon.

The wallet has a cerakote finish aluminum frame. This is a ceramic-based finish that helps protect the wallet from water, corrosion, and damage.

Lastly, the multitool that is included in the wallet and the screws on the wallet are both made out of stainless steel.

Clothing style fit

The Dango T01 Tactical Bifold Spec Ops wallet is built to be rugged and tactical, yet still, look very sharp and elegant.

Whatever color you choose, you should have no trouble incorporating this wallet into your wardrobe.

You can also customize your wallet by choosing different color options for the tether and the band. This way you can have a unique item that will look like it has been made just for you.

The Dango T01 Tactical Bifold Spec Ops wallet has a lot of interesting features you should know about.

RFID blocking

RFID blocking might interest you if you are worried that thieves might try to steal valuable information from your cards.

Like most other Dango products, the Dango T01 Tactical Bifold Spec Ops is an RFID-blocking wallet.

Most of the contents of the wallet are on the inside. In theory, this function should have no trouble working for the cards inside. However, this might not be the case for the cards that are placed in the outside card slots. Since part of the cards will stick out, some information might not be protected that well in this wallet. This is something you can overcome simply by placing your important cards in the interior card slots.

How many cards can the Dango T01 Tactical Bifold Spec Ops wallet hold?

The recommended amount of cards for the Dango T01 Tactical Bifold Spec Ops is 12. However, some owners have managed to fit in a couple of more cards. If you need more card space, you can always remove the multitool from the wallet, and place some cards in its place. You can also strap a card or two on the wallet band, instead of cash bills.

How much cash can the Dango T01 Tactical Bifold Spec Ops wallet hold?

You can put 2-3 cash bills within the band of the Dango T01 Tactical Bifold Spec Ops. If you need more space for cash bills, you can always play around with the card placed in your wallet, and fit in a couple of more cash bills in there. The capacity of the cash bill compartment is similar to most other minimalist wallets on the market.

If you still need more space for your cash bills, I suggest checking out my guide on the best wallets for cash.

Water resistance

Most of the materials used to make this wallet are water-resistant so this wallet should be able to handle small amounts of water. Overall, it does offer better water protection than a leather wallet would. Keep in mind that this wallet isn’t completely enclosed, so if water does get inside the wallet, chances are your cards will get wet and possibly damaged.

MT02 multitool

Dango T01 Tactical Bifold Spec Ops wallet with MT02 multi-tool in hand

The MT02 Multitool is included with the wallet, placed into the card cavity, and has over 14 built-in functions.

When engaged, the multitool is nested securely onto the safety locks on the chassis. Some of the functions of the multitool include:

  • hex wrenches
  • paracord tensioner
  • cutter
  • nail pryer
  • serrated/sharpened edges
  • ruler
  • a phone stand

If you decide to carry the multitool, make sure to place a blank card between it and the other cards that will be placed in the same cavity, to provide protection from scratching.

Weight, size, dimensions

The size of this wallet is pretty average when compared to other minimalist wallets, with its dimensions being:

  • height: 2.75 in / 6.98 cm
  • width: 4.375 in / 11.125 cm
  • depth: 0.75 in / 1.905 cm

On average, minimalist wallets weigh around 2.5 oz / 70 g, so the Dango T01 Tactical Bifold Spec Ops wallet, which weighs 4 oz / 113.4 g, is a bit heavier.

Customer satisfaction

There are a lot of reviews for this product, and a large number of them are positive. There are, however, a couple of bad reviews as well.

Positive reviews

A lot of customers feel good about carrying the multitool with them. Even if you don’t need the features that this wallet offers every day, you will feel better carrying them, because they can prove to be useful if you are ever in a bind.

One thing a lot of owners mention is the workmanship. A great number of reviewers claim that the wallet doesn’t degrade quickly, even after extensive use.

Most customers are very satisfied with the card and cash capacity that this wallet offers. The capacity is similar to most minimalist wallets on the market.

Since this is one of the best outdoors wallets currently available, people that like the outdoors, and in general like tools, gear, camping, and even tactical and prepper equipment, find this wallet especially attractive. They just can’t get enough of the cool aesthetic and the MT02 multitool.

Known issues and problems

One customer said that cards fall all over the place when you try to remove one and it’s near impossible to pull out the card you want without pulling out all of the cards.

The majority of bad reviews point out the bad quality of the leather on the inside of the wallet. Some report that the leather has torn after 6 months of use.

Another owner pointed out that it’s painful to carry the wallet in his back pocket, because of the sharp edges and its bulkiness, and that the overall wallet is harder to use compared to other minimalist wallets.

Lastly, some reviewers have said that they aren’t satisfied with the card and cash capacity of this wallet, as it’s too tight to fit everything they need.

How does the Dango T01 Tactical Bifold Spec Ops wallet compare to other minimalist wallets?

This wallet’s additional features make it a solid competitor to some of the most popular minimalist wallets on the market. Here are some comparisons to help you understand how the Dango T01 Tactical Bifold Spec Ops wallet measures up against the competition.

The Dango T01 Tactical Bifold Spec Ops wallet vs the Dango D01 Dapper Bifold wallet

Both of these wallets are made by the Dango brand and are pretty similar. The Dango D01 Dapper Bifold wallet is cheaper and can hold more cards. The Dango T01 Tactical Bifold Spec Ops is made out of DTEX and other materials while the Dango D01 Dapper Bifold wallet is mainly made out of leather. Both of them have RFID-blocking and some water resistance. When it comes to the dimensions they are very similar, but the Dango T01 Tactical Bifold Spec Ops is heavier. Both of the wallets come with a lifetime warranty.

If you would like to know more, you should read my full review of the Dango D01 Dapper Bifold wallet.

The Dango T01 Tactical Bifold Spec Ops wallet vs the Buffway Slim wallet

The Buffway Slim is a lot cheaper than the T01 Tactical Bifold Spec Ops wallet and can hold fewer cards. Dimension-wise, the Buffway Slim is just a bit thinner, but it weighs a lot less than the Dango T01 Tactical Bifold Spec Ops wallet. Both of these wallets have RFID-blocking and some water resistance. The Buffway Slim has only a 1-year warranty, compared to the lifetime warranty for the Dango T01 Bifold Spec Ops wallet. If you are interested in this wallet, you should check out my detailed review about the Buffway Slim wallet.

Who should not buy the Dango T01 Tactical Bifold Spec Ops wallet?

This isn’t exactly the cheapest wallet out there, and for some people, it may be unaffordable, in which case I recommend taking a look at my guides on the best wallets under $50 or the best wallets under $30.

You should reconsider this wallet if you don’t want your new minimalist wallet to be on the heavier side. Most minimalist wallets weigh around 2.5 oz / 70 g, while the Dango T01 Tactical Bifold Spec Ops wallet weighs 4 oz / 113.4 g.

Another thing to consider is the sharp edges of this wallet. If you are someone that usually carries their wallet in their back pocket, this might be troublesome for you. The sharp edges might be uncomfortable, and the bulkiness of this wallet might make it hard to sit on top of it.

This might not be the best wallet for someone that carries a lot of cash bills with them, since it can fit just a couple of bills. There are alternative minimalist wallets that offer more space for cash bills if you are not satisfied with the cash capacity of this wallet.

I wouldn’t recommend this wallet to someone that likes to dress casually, since it’s a bit flashy. The cool aesthetic and over-the-top features, might not be attractive to someone who is looking for a simple minimalist wallet.

This wallet also has a lot of features that most customers won’t need, or even want. So if you don’t want to pay for all the extra stuff this wallet offers, like a multitool and a paracord lanyard, you can always check out other similar minimalist wallets without so many features.

Finally, if you don’t want to carry part of your belongings on the outside, I wouldn’t suggest this wallet. If you want to keep all of your wallet’s contents secret, go for a wallet with less than two outside card pockets.

Who should buy the Dango T01 Tactical Bifold Spec Ops wallet?

The first group of people I would recommend this wallet to are all the tactical feature nerds. The Dango T01 Tactical Bifold Spec Ops is one of the best tactical wallets today and has a lot of interesting features to offer. The one that is the most fun is the MT02 multitool. So you should check this wallet out if you want to have some fun accessories along with your minimalist wallet.

I would also recommend this wallet to those who want a wallet that’s stronger than a leather one. Leather is a material that tears much more easily than DTEX, so this might be a good wallet for you if you are looking for a minimalist wallet that is strong and not easily damaged.

Outdoorsy people might also find this wallet useful, especially the MT02 multitool that comes along with it. The features that the multitool has, such as hex wrenches, paracord tensioner, cutter, nail pryer, serrated/sharpened edges, a ruler, and even a phone stand, might all come in handy in the wilderness.

This wallet could also be a cool accessory for anyone that dresses formally. Its cool aesthetic and tactical features would fit a suit perfectly.

You’re in luck if you want to mix and match colors to build your wallet. The Dango T01 Tactical Bifold Spec Ops wallet has bands in a variety of colors that you may mix and match with the main wallet color to create your unique design.

Lastly, people who do sports would also like this wallet. Even if it’s a bit flashy for a run, it comes with accessories to secure your wallet while you exercise.
