Best Money Clip Wallets – 9 Smart Products For Your Cash

Despite cash being used less and less, many people are still keen on using cash bills and want to have a secure way of keeping them in their wallets.

Traditionally, cash bills were always kept inside a folding wallet, in a wide cash compartment. But with the recent trends in the minimalist wallets industry, we rarely see such types of wide pockets. Most of the brands come up with new innovative features to carry your bills instead of a wide pocket. One of the most popular features for carrying cash bills in a minimalist wallet today is a money clip. These clips come in various shapes and forms and are usually made from thin steel which allows them to be sturdy yet flexible so you can stuff your bills in easily.

For those of you who have decided to get a minimalist wallet with such a feature, I’ve compiled a list of the 9 best minimalist wallets with a money clip you can get right now.

Best Money Clip Wallet Overall – Secrid Miniwallet

Secrid Miniwallet open

The Secrid Miniwallet is undoubtedly my top pick on this list, and for many reasons.

For starters, it is the only money clip wallet that’s made from a mixture of fine leather with strong aluminum. These materials deliver a great wallet that is both extremely durable and looks very stylish as well.

The wallet consists of the signature Secrid Cardholder, an aluminum case equipped with a push-button for quick access to the cards stored inside. This case is coated with a leather exterior that can be fully closed. The exterior holds two more card pockets, as well as the main feature for holding bills – the money clip.

Every feature of this wallet is safely stored inside the leather exterior and fully enclosed with a snap button.

In total, the Secrid Minimwallet can hold up to 10 cards and 5-7 cash bills, depending on how tight you fold them. Since the clip is pretty wide, you probably won’t have to fold them more than once.

Despite all the features packed in it, the wallet is still fairly small and you could easily hold it inside your palm. It is 2.6 x 3.8 in / 6.6 x 9.7 cm in size, and weighs around 2.79 oz / 79.09 g.

When buying the Secrid Miniwallet, you are presented with more than 60 different color choices for the exterior. Many of those include beautiful artistic designs, but all of the choices provide such an eye-pleasing aesthetics that you simply can’t make a wrong choice.

The wallet has a base warranty of 2 years, extendable up to 3 years after you register the product on Secrid’s website. If you order the wallet from Secrid’s web store, you will also get a 60-day return period in case you want to send it back.

Who shouldn’t buy the Secrid Miniwallet?

The only type of people I wouldn’t recommend this wallet to are those who are looking for something utterly simple to use. With its closing button and the quick-access mechanism (which is the only way to get the cards out), the features of this wallet might take some time to get used to.

Who should buy the Secrid Miniwallet?

I would recommend the Secrid Miniwallet to anyone who wants the safety of the aluminum case as much as the beauty of the leather of this wallet. It is one of the rare products that excel in both security and style and is well worth its price.

Best Premium Money Clip Wallet – Ridge Forged Carbon

Talking about money clips, there is no brand that has done a better job of implementing this feature in their wallet’s design than Ridge. Using only two plates strapped to each other with an elastic band, this brand has made a name for itself by perfecting the open-frame minimalist wallet design.

The Ridge Forged Carbon is their most premium wallet to date, and also my favorite premium wallet with a money clip. It consists of two plates made from forged carbon fiber, an elastic band that holds them together, some screws to keep it all tight and safe, and, of course, a money clip.

What’s great about this wallet is that you can fully customize it. You can swap the plates for others made from different materials, or with a different design. You can also swap the money clip itself, changing it for an elastic fabric, or going without any cash feature at all. I assume this last option isn’t on the menu since, well, you are probably interested in a money clip, but it’s nice to know that you can choose to replace it with a band as well.

Although the wallet has just one pocket formed between the plates, it can still hold up to 12 cards. The money clip holds about 5-7 bills, which is the standard for this feature.

The Ridge Forged Carbon is one of the most compact wallets ever made. It has dimensions of 2.1 in / 5.4 cm in height and 3.4 in / 8.6 cm in width. The wallet also comes with a depth of 0.6 in / 1.5 cm, and could easily fit into your front pocket.

The wallet has a lifetime manufacturer’s warranty, which is standard for all Ridge wallets, and a period of 45 days to return the wallet for a full refund.

Who shouldn’t buy the Ridge Forged Carbon?

The Ridge Forged Carbon isn’t quite the wallet for people who like to keep things organized and in separate pockets. Since it only has a single pocket for cards, all of your credit cards, ID, entry badges, and whatnot will have to be put right next to each other, scramble in a tight space. If this doesn’t sound like something you’d want, I suggest you look at some of the other options on this list.

Who should buy the Ridge Forged Carbon?

This is the perfect wallet for many types of people. If you are looking for the best premium product without regard to its price, if you want to look stylish, and if you love to customize things, the Ridge Forged Carbon is the only wallet that could offer all of this to you at a glance.

Best Budget Choice Money Clip Wallet – Travando Austin

Not everyone has a small fortune to spend on their next wallet. If you are in the market for something more affordable, but nice and useful nonetheless, you’re going to love this pick.

Travando Austin is a slim bi-fold wallet made from leather. It is part of the Travando assortment, a budget-priced wallet series, and it has been one of the most popular minimalist wallets overall for the past couple of years.

The wallet has many great features in its compact design, including a quick-access card slot on the front, about a dozen of pockets inside, an ID window, and a money clip neatly placed above the inner pockets.

Ideally, you could fit up to 11 cards in the Travando Austin. This limit might be increased for a couple of more cards, but going above 11 will make the wallet too stuffed and hard to use.

The money clip can hold around 5 cash bills on it. It is recommended that you fold the bills at least once, but if you use smaller banknotes then this might not be needed. If you do manage to secure the bills unfolded, then you might be able to fit up to 10 of them.

The Travando Austin is probably the most clean-looking and organized wallet with so many pockets in its design. It comes in many different color versions, all looking very neat, and covered with an elegant leather finish.

The best place to buy the wallet is from Amazon, where you will also be eligible for a 30-day return and refund period.

Who shouldn’t buy the Travando Austin?

In general, I don’t think this is the right choice for people who only use a couple of cards. If you need storage for up to 5 or 6 cards, then half of the pockets on this wallet will be left empty, which could also ruin its aesthetics.

Who should buy the Travando Austin?

People who love to keep things organized and in separate pockets would love the Travando Austin. It is one of the rare wallets with a dozen of slots, each for a separate card, that still looks uncluttered.

If you fall in this group of people, don’t hesitate to read my full Travando Austin review and get yourself a great and affordable minimalist wallet.

Best Leather Money Clip Wallet – Serman Transformer

If you are looking for a spacious money clip wallet that is affordable but still made from fine leather, the Serman Transformer is arguably your best choice.

This bifold wallet features 11 card slots, 8 of which are inside and 3 on the outside for quick access. Inside the wallet, you’ll see the wide money clip, placed on the right side above the card slots.

The Serman Transformer has a capacity for up to 12 cards and 10 cash bills, more than enough for any future user out there. The wallet’s dimensions are:

  • width: 4.3 in / 11 cm
  • height: 3.1 in / 7.9 cm
  • depth: 0.6 in / 1.5 cm

Handcrafted from full-grain Cowhide leather, the wallet shines with exquisite style, like it’s made for individuals with fine taste. It is offered in 9 different colors and would instantly blend into anyone’s wardrobe.

There is a 1-year manufacturer’s warranty active from the day of purchase that will cover any defects on the leather or the money clip.

Who shouldn’t buy the Serman Transformer?

One major drawback of the Serman Transformer is its depth. Although the wallet has a large capacity, it will only become thicker as you fill it, leaving you with a wide bulky wallet after a few months of excessive usage.

Who should buy the Serman Transformer?

I would recommend the Serman Transformer to anyone looking for a spacious, high-quality leather wallet that comes at a moderate price. This is one of the rare wallets priced below $30 that could fit so many cards and bills and is probably the only one that uses high-end leather in its build.

If this sounds like the thing you were looking for, go over my detailed review of the Serman Transformer to see what else it has in store for you.

Best Aluminum Money Clip Wallet – Ridge Aluminum

If you love the approach of the Ridge brand, but are afraid that you won’t quite fit the Ridge Premium wallet in your budget then we have another equally great solution for you.

The Ridge Aluminum is a slightly more affordable wallet from the Ridge brand that uses the same signature design. It consists of two plates, this time made from aluminum, and a steel money clip attached to them.

There is a single pocket on this wallet, formed between the plates, that could fit up to 12 cards. The aluminum plates keep the cards safe both from physical damage, as well as from wireless theft due to the RFID protection they provide. The money clip, on the other hand, can fit 5-7 bills and is fully detachable from the rest of the wallet in case you don’t need it.

The unique thing about the Ridge Aluminum is that it comes in a total of 12 different colors and designs. You can choose from 7 monochromatic and 5 artistic designs, or you could mix and match between them since the plates are fully customizable.

The Ridge Aluminum wallet comes with a 1-year warranty and a 45-days free return period after the purchase.

Who shouldn’t buy the Ridge Aluminum?

If you don’t see yourself customizing your items and switching up the design of this wallet, then I don’t think you should go for the Ridge Aluminum. The customizing design is the main selling point of all Ridge wallets, and if you don’t see yourself using that feature, then there are dozens of alternatives out there you could get at a cheaper price.

Who should buy the Ridge Aluminum?

I would recommend the Ridge Aluminum to anyone who puts great attention to their appearance. The fact that you can buy multiple different colors and designs of the same wallet and simply switch between them based on your current outfit is a great plus.

You can read more about the customizing options and pretty much everything about this excellent product in my comprehensive review of the Ridge Aluminum wallet.

Largest Card Capacity Money Clip Wallet – Extremus Carbon

Extremus Carbon wallet design

If you need a wallet that has a large capacity for dozens of cards and cash bills, the Extremus Carbon is your best bet.

This tactical wallet packs lots of functionalities and comes at a fairly low price of just $25. Its design is similar to the Ridge wallet, with two plates attached to one another with a few small screws.

All of your cards will go in the single pocket between the plates, while your bills would be stuffed on the steel clip attached on top. The wallet can hold up to 15 cards and a couple of cash bills. Although the capacity for bills is not as large as on the other wallets on this list, the capacity for cards is by far the largest.

The biggest upsides of this wallet are its size and style. The dimensions of the Extremus Carbon are 3.82 x 2.24 in / 9.70 x 5.69 cm, meaning you can fit it into any pocket.

The wallet comes in two colors: black and gunsmoke. However, its design is so universal that you can combine the wallet with many different types of clothes, shirts, suits, or casual t-shirts.

In case you need to fix some defects or want to swap a faulty wallet, the Extremus Carbon comes with a 1-year warranty and a 30-day free return period.

Who shouldn’t buy the Extremus Carbon?

I wouldn’t recommend the Extremus Carbon to people who carry lots of cash bills. Although it has a similar money clip as the rest of the wallets, this one is much tighter and only stores a couple of bills on it.

Who should buy the Extremus Carbon?

Anyone looking for an affordable, yet durable metal wallet should have the Extremus Carbon on top of their list. This is one of the cheapest minimalist wallets made from aluminum, and one of the rare high-quality wallets at this price that uses a money clip.

You can find more details about the wallet on my complete Extremus Carbon review.

Lightest Money Clip Wallet – Travelambo Money Clip

Travelambo Money Clip is one of the lightest, simplest, and most affordable minimalist wallets on the market. It’s a one-fold slim leather wallet with an inverted design.

The wallet consists of a single piece of fabric with 3 card slots on the front, 1 ID pocket at the back, a wider pocket cut through the middle, and a money clip covered with leather.

Simplicity is key with this wallet, as it’s made for light use, usually as a sidekick to your main wallet, and stores only a few essential cards, paper slips, and banknotes.

The Travelambo Money Clip has a capacity for 7 cards and around 10-15 cash bills.

This is also one of the most versatile minimalist wallets in this guide, as it comes in a dozen different colors and combinations. Everyone can find a version of the Travelambo Money Clip fitting for their personal clothing style.

The warranty period for this wallet will vary based on the place of purchase, but you will get a 30-day free return period in almost any store.

Who shouldn’t buy the Travelambo Money Clip?

The biggest setback of the Travelambo Money Clip wallet is its durability. The wallet is made from average-quality leather and the thin steel money clip might bend and lose shape with usage. If you are looking for a higher-quality wallet, I don’t think this is your best choice.

Who should buy the Travelambo Money Clip?

The Travelambo Money Clip is the best wallet for travelers or people with a busy lifestyle who could use a second, smaller wallet than the one they already have. It is great for a night out when you don’t want to carry your bulky wallet and would prefer a slimmer one for just a few essential cards.

Most Feature-Complete Money Clip Wallet – Andar Apollo

For those of you who want a money clip wallet filled with other features and pockets, the Andar Apollo is one of the best you can get.

This bi-fold minimalist wallet is made from full-grain leather and has 5 pockets with a thin money clip in the middle. It is great for those who love the old classy-looking folding wallets but are looking to slowly transition to a minimalist one.

Besides the money clip, the Andar Apollo has a quick-access card slot on the front, a pull-tab in one of the inner pockets, and strong RFID protection all over.

Using all of its pockets, you can easily fit up to 10 cards. Since the leather is pretty flexible, you could maybe fit a couple more, but 10 is the golden mean before the wallet gets too stiff. The money clip, although uniquely thin, can hold 10-12 cash bills, all of which unfolded.

The fine leather of the Andar Apollo comes in several colors: tan, brown, black, grey, stone, gray, and one version made out of cork. Each one comes with immense elegance and a nice, smooth finish, which is best combined with stylish, formal, or tan leather clothes.

The Andar brand offers a universal 1-year warranty for this wallet that covers any defects and faults in workmanship.

Who shouldn’t buy the Andar Apollo?

Honestly, it’s hard to pinpoint any fault in this wallet, or a specific type of person who wouldn’t like this. It’s got practically everything: large capacity, fine materials, stylish appearance, and even an affordable price. The only people who wouldn’t want a wallet like the Andar Apollo are those who are looking for hard-case metal or plastic wallets, as they aren’t too fond of the leather ones.

Who should buy the Andar Apollo?

I would mostly recommend the Andar Apollo to people who have never used a minimalist wallet and want to try one without leaving behind the folding design they are used to. This wallet will grant you everything you need to make the transition from your old traditional wallet to a new, stylish, minimalist one.

If you’ve found yourself in this situation, make sure to read my full review of the Andar Apollo and see why people love this wallet so much.

Most Durable Money Clip Wallet – Andar Pilot

While many people are looking for affordable wallets hoping to squeeze the maximum life expectancy out of them for as little money as possible, others would always prefer quality and durability over everything else. For the latter, the choice can be quite simple. Andar Pilot is probably the most durable minimalist money clip wallet you could find.

This semi-open wallet consists of a hard-shell case in which you store all of your cards. The case is made from anodized aluminum and is coated with full-grain oil-waxed leather, two of the very best materials ever used in the wallet industry.

At the bottom of the case, you will see a spinning wheel that is attached to a spring. The spring, once the wheel is spun, pushes the cards out, allowing you to quickly find the one you need and put the rest back. This is one of the most innovative quick-access features we’ve seen on a wallet so far, and probably the first time a wheel instead of a button is used for such a thing.

The money clip of the Andar Pilot is optional, as the design of the wallet allows you to use it both with and without the clip. Altogether, the wallet can fit up to 6 cards and 5 bills.

The warranty in this wallet lasts for a full year after the purchase, but you also have a period of 90 days to return the wallet for a full refund if it doesn’t work out for you.

Who shouldn’t buy the Andar Pilot?

I wouldn’t recommend the Andar Pilot to people who use lots of cards and cash and need a wallet with a bigger capacity. Seeing as the case can only fit 6 non-embossed cards, if you’ve got more than this then you’ll be forced to leave some of them home.

Who should buy the Andar Pilot?

This wallet would be a great fit for many people. People who dress in rugged vintage clothes would love the dark-brown aesthetics, while those who love cool gadgets with innovative designs would be eager to use the unique quick-access spinning wheel.

If you fall in either of these categories, you should read my Andar Pilot review and see all of the details about this wallet.

Are Money Clips A Good Way To Carry Cash Bills?

Before the rise of minimalist wallets, carrying bills was simple. Large wide pockets were the only features designed for this purpose. However, nowadays we have many different ways of doing things. You can fold your bills and put them in a smaller pocket, stuff them beneath an elastic strap, or hang them on a money clip. And unsurprisingly, this last method has proven to be the most convenient one.

The reason why so many people love steel clips is simple. Steel is stronger and more secure than elastic straps, keeping your bills in place, but it’s also flexible enough so you can put the bills in and out with ease.

When you are looking for a wallet with a money clip, you should definitely look for one made out of steel. There are many different shapes of clips as well. There are wide, thin, clips on the outside of the wallet and ones on the inside. Which one you’ll get is all up to you and your preferences, but you should always watch out if it’s made from the right materials and fits the necessary amount of banknotes on it.

If you want to learn some other weird tips and tricks about this neat little product, check out my guide on how to use a money clip.
