Andar Apollo Review – The Most Feature-full Leather Wallet Ever Made

This is a complete review of the Andar Apollo wallet. Here we’ll answer all of the questions you might have about this wallet and help you decide whether this unique leather model is the right fit for you.

Should you buy the Andar Apollo wallet?

The Andar Apollo is probably the best choice if you are looking for a high-end, RFID-protected, leather wallet with lots of features but also a size that can still be considered slim.

The wallet has pretty large storage, especially for cash bills, as it can hold around a dozen of them inside the money clip, and is one of the best minimalist wallets for cash because of that.

I would also recommend this wallet to anyone who needs to switch their old one but wants to stick to the bifold leather design found in most traditional models.

Buying

This model is consistently available on Amazon in many different colors and design options.

Price and value for money

The Andar Apollo will typically cost $59.

As such, it is a medium-price wallet. It’s not among the cheapest ones but is still far from expensive when compared to other similar wallets.

For such a price, it holds an immense value mainly for being one of the most feature-complete leather wallets, with lots of capacity and functionalities.

Shipping details

Andar offers free shipping only on orders exceeding $75.

If you only buy this one wallet, you will most probably have to pay the standard shipping fee of around $5, or the express shipping for $10 if you want it delivered in up to 2 days.

Customer support

In case you have any further questions about the product, the shipping fees, Andar’s policies, or other thoughts, you can reach the brand’s customer support team via:

Warranty policy

Andar offers a universal 1-year warranty on their wallets activated from the day of purchase.

The policy covers any faults in workmanship and materials, excluding any damages caused by the users themselves.

Returns

In case the wallet didn’t work for you, you can return it to Andar and get a full refund for the item in a period of 90 days after purchasing it.

However, you must return the item unused, in the original packaging, and only after you’ve e-mailed the company and have received a confirmation for the return. You can read about this policy in detail on Andar’s returns webpage.

Andar brand

Andar is a fairly new brand, founded in 2015. In the past years, they’ve manufactured numerous bags, cases, and true minimalist wallets in modern fashion.

They put their focus on minimizing the sizes of all items and helping you organize what you carry every day. All their products are designed to offer a lot of functionality while taking as little space as they can.

Basics

The Apollo is one of the many wallets Andar has released so far, merging all of the useful features found on the other models.

It is a bifold leather wallet equipped with five pockets and a money clip inside it.

How to use the Andar Apollo Wallet?

With so many pockets at your disposal, you can practically organize the wallet however you like.

Generally, you will keep your banknotes on the money clip, and your cards in the slots of the wallet. The wallet has no closing feature, as it only folds onto itself, similarly to how a traditional wallet does.

When it comes to organizing the contents, there are a couple of things that will help you out. Inside there is an ID window for your ID card, a pull-tab for the slot with your most used cards, and quick access outside pocket for any entrance card. Each of these slots is conveniently placed in order to not clutter the item too much and store as many cards as you need without thickening the wallet.

Aesthetics

The aesthetics of the Andar Apollo are as dazzling as its features. The design of the wallet is very sleek and eye-soothing, as are its colors and materials.

Design and colors

The Apollo is designed like a bifold wallet with a very similar make as the old, traditional leather wallets. It has multiple compartments on both sides, with a few on the outer walls as well.

The wallet comes in 6 different colors:

  • tan
  • brown
  • black
  • grey
  • cork
  • stone gray (offered in limited series)

Materials

Andar Apollo’s surface is made from smooth, full-grain leather that has a premium feel to it.

The only exception from this is the Cork model, which is made from cork.

Aside from these materials, there is also a little bit of steel used for the money clip found on the inside of the wallet.

Clothing style fit

The Andar Apollo is made for the true admirers of stylish leather items. The wallet goes perfectly with both modern and vintage formal wear, especially considering the grey and black colors.

However, with the wide array of tan and brown colors, as well as the darker ones, the wallet can easily fit into any closet.

Features

I already mentioned how this is one of the most featureful wallets I have stumbled upon so far. It’s even more impressive when you consider the wallet’s minimal design.

RFID Protection

The Apollo is an RFID-blocking wallet, giving strong protection from wireless theft to all the cards placed inside.

Andar has used strong, well-constructed leather when crafting this wallet. If safety is one of your main concerns, you would have no worries with the Apollo as all your credit cards will be safe and sound.

Quick access slot

On the front side, you will find a single quick-access pocket with a thumb hole at the bottom of it.

Here you can put your most-used card and have quick access to it at any time. You simply push the card at the bottom with your thumb and it pops out of the slot.

I would recommend putting an entrance card for your office, gym, public transport, or any building you need to enter almost every day in there.

Pull-tab

The main inside pocket of the wallet is equipped with a pull-tab. This is the most spacious pocket of the wallet that can carry up to 4 cards.

The tab is situated in the backside of the wallet, where you simply have to pull it up and all the cards will pop out of the pocket. This will give you easy and quick access to the cards placed inside of the wallet without the need to open the wallet up.

I would recommend putting your credit cards here, as they will be safely protected inside and you will be able to quickly get them out whenever you need to pay something.

Money clip

If you are the type of person who still likes to carry around some cash bills with them, you will be delighted to hear Andar put this feature inside the Apollo wallet.

When you open the wallet, you will find the money clip right in the middle of the two sides. It looks like a small, metal clasp that holds the bills tightened in it. With this, you won’t have to worry about sacrificing space for cards and putting bills in the pockets, as all the bills will find their place on the clip.

ID window

Another notable feature this wallet has is an ID window mounted on the right side of the wallet, right as you open it.

Here you can place your ID card or driving license and just show it whenever you need to without removing it.

How many cards can the Andar Apollo Wallet hold?

The Andar Apollo wallet can comfortably hold up to 10 cards in all of its 5 pockets:

  • 4 cards in the main pocket with the pull-tab
  • 4 cards in the pockets on the left side of the wallet
  • 1 card in the ID window
  • 1 card in the outer quick access slot

If you try, you might end up storing a couple more, as leather is flexible enough to support some stretching. However, I wouldn’t recommend exceeding this amount as you can damage and tear the material.

How many cash bills can the Andar Apollo Wallet hold?

The money clip can hold up to a dozen of banknotes on it since they don’t need to be folded.

You can store most of the world’s currencies on the clip and it will hold them tight and not hang out of the wallet.

Water resistance

Unfortunately, only the Cork version from the Andar Apollo has water protection with it, thanks to the nature of the cork material.

All the other leather versions will be damaged if they get in contact with water, especially if they get submerged in it.

Size and dimensions

Although it can hold a lot of contents inside, the wallet is very slim and it can easily fit in your back or front pocket.

Its dimensions are:

  • width: 4.1 in / 10.4 cm
  • height: 2.9 in / 7.4 cm
  • depth: 0.4 in / 1 cm

Customer satisfaction

The Andar Apollo has so far gathered an astonishing 4.9/5 average rating from 1800 user reviews on the Andar website.

A similar story is told by the 170 buyers from Amazon that have managed to get their hands on this wallet. There, the Apollo has an average of 4.5/5 stars rating, meaning it is a very well-accepted wallet with lots of satisfied customers.

Known issues and problems

So far, I’ve only managed to find only a few minor issues with this wallet. Even judging by the reviews from other users, it seems that Andar has really pulled it off with this model.

The most notable problem you’ll encounter with the Apollo is that it can be hard to close it when you fill it all up, as the wallet doesn’t have any closing mechanism, it just folds onto itself. However, you will only notice this when you put the wallet on a table, but it won’t cause any trouble in your pocket.

Another issue you might notice is with the leather of the wallet. This material can wear off significantly after a few years of usage, making the Apollo less and less appealing as time goes by. It’s not unsolvable, as there are many different methods for leather reparation, but it will require much better maintenance than a metal wallet would.

And finally, a couple of users have confirmed that the money clip found in the middle of the wallet can become loose over time, making the banknotes fall out. Recently, Andar has replied to this concern saying that you can always tighten the clip up by slightly removing it from its place and screwing it in a little, so I guess this issue is also far from a dealbreaker.

Overall, there are no major issues with the build, nor the features, and the Andar Apollo will function seamlessly for ages.

How does the Andar Apollo compare to other minimalist wallets?

When it comes to leather, bi-fold, minimalist wallets, there aren’t that many astonishing options. Most of the brands have focused on open-frame and single-piece wallets. Here we will go through two of the most popular wallets with this design and see how they compare to the Andar Apollo.

Andar Apollo vs Runbox Slim

Runbox Minimalist Slim brown color

Runbox Slim is the most notable budget-priced lookalike wallet to the Andar Apollo. Both wallets use the same design, and on first notice feel roughly the same.

The Runbox Slim is priced at only $27, half as much as the Apollo. In order to pull off that price, Runbox has made some big sacrifices with this model.

Runbox has made the wallet from a different leather of lesser quality, and has put fewer features. It only has a cash clip and RFID blocking.

However, both wallets will offer the same capacity, and both are similar bifold models with enough space for cash and cards. So if you would like to save some money and you wouldn’t mind a lesser-quality leather, see my complete Runbox Slim review.

Andar Apollo vs Dango D01 Dapper Bifold

The Dango D01 Dapper Bifold is a premium bifold wallet made from both leather and metal.

It is priced at around $79 and uses a mixture of genuine leather and aluminum in its build. Aside from their capacity and premium feel, the two wallets are nothing alike.

The Dango model has completely different features than the Andar Apollo. It has a bottle opener and an elastic band strapped on it and has fewer, but bigger pockets.

Who should not buy the Andar Apollo Wallet?

The Andar Apollo is, overall, a great wallet with lots of features. However, there are a lot of people who simply wouldn’t see the benefit of this wallet and would be better off with some other product.

First of all, I wouldn’t recommend it to people who aren’t too fond of leather wallets. If you’d like to explore different materials for your wallet, check out these guides:

Next are people who don’t carry a lot of cash on them. One of the biggest perks of the Apollo is its separate cash clip that can store a dozen of banknotes. But if you almost always shop with credit cards instead, the clip will only unnecessarily clutter your wallet.

And finally, I wouldn’t recommend the Andar Apollo to people who want a more simplistic and smaller wallet. The Apollo is significantly bigger and bulkier than most minimalist wallets. If you don’t need that much capacity, you might be better off with some of the single-pocket or one-sided wallets.

Who should buy the Andar Apollo Wallet?

The Andar Apollo is the perfect choice for leather admirers. Whether you are one of those old, vintage heads who keep most of their accessories with a leather finish, or simply want to fill your closet with high-quality clothes, you can’t go wrong with the Andar brand’s materials.

The Apollo is also a great option for people looking to switch from their old and used wallet to a new one with a similar design. If you already own a leather wallet, need a new one, but don’t see yourself buying a metal model – the Apollo is the way to go.

Another great reason to consider this wallet is its features. The Apollo is one of the most stacked-up wallets when it comes to functionality, and you won’t see a lot of models with so many practical features mounted on them.

Overall, this wallet is simply great for anyone looking for a premium, high-end, leather, bifold wallet with enough space to store all keep all their cards and cash bills with them all day. Even better – without having to pay the premium price for all this as well.
